Sports Programme – Term 1 2012
Welcome to the Sports programme at Te Puke Intermediate School. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new students and their families and hope their time involved in sport here at TPI is both enjoyable and successful.
Each term numerous sports are offered and students can check these on the Sports notice board. Students then attend sign-up meetings at interval where they meet the coach and gain more information about any particular sport. All students of all abilities are encouraged to participate in our Sports programme and participating can count for the students Latimer Award.
We are a big school and often communication is difficult but I encourage any student that wishes to become involved in a sport that they listen to the daily notices. Homeroom teachers will read the daily notices at the beginning of the day, they are on the schools Ultranet system and they are posted on the Sports notice board. These notices always have messages regarding sports meetings and practices and are always our first port of call when conveying information about the numerous sports.
This term we offer the following team sports – Cricket (boys), Touch Rugby, Waterpolo and Kiwi Volleyball. More information on days, times and fees will be explained at the sign-up meetings.
Other events run in Term 1 are the TPI Swimming Sports, Top Schools and the Kia Kaha Fun Run. In addition to that our elite athletes will compete in the Bay of Plenty/ Poverty Bay Intermediate Sports Association competitions/ tournaments. This term TPI will compete in the Splash, Paddle and Dash (multi-sport), Tennis, Golf, Surfing, Swimming and Touch Rugby.
As there is such a limited timeframe to get these teams up and running, families are asked to return permission slips and money by the due dates. Students are asked to return all permission slips and money in a sealed envelope with their name, room and event on the envelope to the school administration office before 8.45am.
Te Puke Intermediate is passionate about our sports teams succeeding in 2012. Please feel free to contact the school and speak to the Director of PE and Sport if you wish to discuss our Sports programme.
